Letter from Paris

I can't get any photos to load on via the iPad, so I am going to treat you with a letter from Paris...

Pictures will come at a letter date.

Dear Diary,

Today I arrived in Paris!  This is my about my 6th visit and still the excitement remains when I see the Tour Eiffel, symbol of Paris.

I'm here to attend an open day for

Le Cordon Bleu Paris cooking school  in preparation for my grown up gap year.

My sister is my support person, because you need someone to be your unbiased eyes and ears for things like this.

The weather is brilliant much warmer than I expected, I suppose I could blame climate change for that! :-)

We are staying at a lovely hotel on the Rive Gauche, which describes me to a tee,a bit left of centre!

We are going to do the hop on hop off bus, a comedy show and visit some sites, so,I'll close this letter now and will write another day.

Love gg

Washing in Town!

Well, only in the hotel room anyway.
It's cold, really cold, I mean bone chilling cold and anyone who knows me well, knows that I never feel the cold, but I must say the I have met my Waterloo in Washington. Verity had to go to the sauna to warm up this afternoon!

Done the topless get on and get off bus, although due to the cold not much getting off  or topless action was happening. We did the Smithsonian museums of history and natural history today, I really loved both,  but my favourite was the history one. I saw Julia Child's kitchen and the red shoes from Wizard from Oz. Pictures to follow so please read on....

the red shoes I am saving for tomorrow, have to have a reason for you to check back again, don't I?
I am about ready to go home. Here is my list of things that mean it is about time for you to go home.

1. You get tired of american accents

2. You get tired of hearing the said american accents everywhere telling you about all their inner thoughts,
(they are called inner thoughts for a reason!)

3. You think tips should be reserved for good service ( not as a substitute for a reasonable hourly rate of pay)

4. You begin to get paranoid about having every disease they have created a drug for!  ( watching too much TV!)

5. You cannot take said drug due to the amount of side effects !

6. You think a night in watching house and garden TV is preferable to going out to another restaurant

7. You are tired of saying where you are from, just want to answer NOT HERE!

Notice I had 7 signs!  There will be more o the 7 thing later in another blog, there has been a development!

Watch this space!

new modernism

Am on a bit of an architecture high after the last 2 days in LA. Pictures will come later but we have trudged all over the downtown area ( the oldest part of LA) braved the metro to get to LAX to pick up a hire car and then we did the FABULOUS tour of silver lake, a mid century modern haven.

Then I took the wheel as achey breaky has never driven on the other side before and head longed it out onto the interstate highway spending a good hour in the LA rush hour traffic ( you can't pay for an experience like that) and then cruising at around 80mph (I didn't see any speed signs, and that is my excuse officer!) and this evening arrived in Palm Springs, the play land of the rich and infamous and for the next 2 days the poor and notorious of Glenquarry.

I can't make any judgements yet as it was night when we got into town, but is has a great deal of mid century modern houses etc so I can bore you silly with that on the next blog.
You will be pleased to know the weather has cleared, and has been quite sunny about 16degrees C and only need to wear a long tee shirt.

talk to you again soon.
GG
